The Best Latke Recipes for Hanukkah

Latke season is here! To celebrate the upcoming holiday season, here’s a roundup of the best latke recipes for Hanukkah.

Hanukkah is coming and it’s time to celebrate with latkes- fried potato pancakes that are the quintessential Hanukkah food. To help you out with the Hanukkah planning, I’m sharing some of my favourite classic and modern latke recipes. Try out some of these different latkes… who knows, maybe you’ll find your new favorite kind of latke!

Sweet Potato Pecan Latkes

Sweet Potato Pecan Latkes

I’m combining my fave dishes, latkes, and sweet potato casserole into one dish!

Word of caution though: If you aren’t a latke lover and/or you don’t like sweet potatoes, these might not be for you. I’m crazy for both of them and just can’t get enough.

Parsnip Potato Latkes

With many holiday traditions experiencing a shake-up, try out a new take on the classic latke with this recipe for Parsnip Potato Latkes.

I’m sharing a winning latke recipe that has a secret ingredient – parsnips! Because parsnips are drier than potatoes (i.e. have a lower water content), and a subtle sweetness, these latkes are super crispy and get perfectly golden brown!

Family-Style Skillet Latkes

Family-Style Skillet Latkes

Try out a new take on the classic latke with this family-style recipe for your favorite potato pancake. No need to fuss over a pan of hot oil, instead, tuck into this sliceable skillet latke, a mess-free way to celebrate the festival of lights!

Giant Latke (Potato Pancake)

Giant Latke (Potato Pancake)

Celebrate this year with a mess-free GIANT Latke (Potato Pancake)! In all honesty, frying latkes is delicious but MESSY, and you find yourself spending more time in front of the stove than with your loved ones. Plus, you smell like fried potatoes for WEEKS on end. Or at least I do.

When it’s just a small crowd, making a big batch of latkes can seem like a pain in the tush, so I’ve started making one GIANT latke that I don’t have to risk oil burns for. It’s a lighter way to celebrate, and it means that my fryer is ready to make some fluffy sufganiyot (doughnuts) instead – priorities, amirite?!
